Lakeville Area Public Schools is the 10th largest district in the state of Minnesota and, of those districts, it has the highest graduation rate. Not only is Lakeville high achieving, but they are a visionary district that seeks opportunities to engage in 21st century learning methods in myriad ways.
As part of this forward-thinking vision, Lakeville implemented myON in all eight of its elementary school in the fall of 2013. Lakeville chose myON over other digital reading products because of the ability to run formative assessments within the myON platform.
As Digital Learning Coordinator for the entire district, Trish Harvey manages the high-level implementation of myON and works to help teachers leverage digital tools in their classroom. In Lakeville, a key piece of the myON implementation will be to build subject-specific book sets to function within every area of curriculum.
Lakeville’s commitment to finding the best way to reach every type of student is inspiring and evidently successful. Their specialized schools—Orchard Lake’s K-3 Impact Academy, Oak Hill’s and Cherry View’s iPad implementations, and South High School’s STEM academy—make it clear that personalized learning is inherent to the district’s success. Lakeville’s use of myON fits perfectly with this commitment to personalized learning.
